FixMyBoat ("the app", "we", "us", "I") is operated by Hinton Faram. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and your choices. Contact: fixmyboat.app@gmail.com
- Account information: your name and email address when you create an account. - Boat and equipment details: information you choose to add to your profile, such as your boat, engines, electrical system and other equipment. - Diagnostic information: the problems you describe, your answers during a diagnosis, any photos you attach, and your diagnosis history. - Technician activity: technicians you save or contact through the directory, and any ratings or feedback you give. - Feedback: responses you choose to give in feedback forms. - Technical information: our hosting provider processes information such as IP addresses and login/session data to run the app securely. The app does not request your location, does not use advertising, and does not include third-party tracking or analytics code.
- To provide diagnoses and step-by-step repair guidance tailored to your boat. - To keep a history of your past diagnoses. - To send service emails, such as welcome messages and occasional feedback requests. - To maintain, secure and improve the app.
We use third-party providers to run the app: - Base44: app hosting, database, login, file storage and email delivery. - An artificial intelligence (AI) service provider: processes your problem descriptions, answers, equipment details and any photos in order to generate diagnoses and repair guidance. - Google Fonts: delivers the app's fonts, and can see your IP address when fonts load. We do not sell your personal information.
The directory lists marine technicians using business contact information that is publicly available or submitted by the business. Businesses can request changes or removal of their listing by emailing us.
We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we also keep anonymous usage statistics (see section 6).
You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Profile → Delete my account). You can also request deletion by emailing fixmyboat.app@gmail.com with the subject "Delete my account" from the email address linked to your account. You can also ask us to delete specific data, such as your diagnosis history, without closing your account, by emailing us. When you delete your account: - Deleted: your account record, including your name, email address and boat profile, and all your diagnoses, answers, saved technicians, technician contacts, ratings and feedback. - Kept as anonymous statistics: simple counts, such as the number of diagnoses you ran, which systems they covered, whether they were completed or fixed, how many technicians were saved or contacted, and the month you joined and left. These contain no name, email address, photos or text you wrote, and can't be linked back to you. - Photos: the links to photos you attached are deleted with your diagnoses, but the image files themselves may remain in our hosting provider's storage, and we cannot guarantee their removal. - Backups and logs: our hosting provider may keep copies in backups or technical logs for a limited period under its own policies.
All data is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections, and access to stored data is restricted. No online service can be guaranteed completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
Depending on where you live, including the European Union under GDPR, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, email fixmyboat.app@gmail.com. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
